Unusual Valentine

I just adore how creative the new Valentine’s display in our local butcher’s drying room is. I walked past the shop on Friday evening and the ensemble made me smile instantly! A butcher’s shop surely cannot get more beautiful than this?

The artistic flair of whoever arranged the display is first class – absolutely brilliant composition. And isn’t the Union Jack crate in the middle superbly placed? What a treat for the eyes! I just had to share it.

The glare on the glass slightly annoys me. But I could hardly insist that they turned off the lights in a shop full of people! So I am trying to ignore that fact when I look back at the post!

Happy Valentine’s Day!

And as you will see from the witty commentator below, only 5 pigs were hurt during the taking of this picture!

  1. This is a great capture. Only five piggies gave their lives int he creation of this art 🙂 And I have to say it: the three little pigs in the middle were eventually captured by the wolf 🙂

      1. 🙂 not at all – I am honoured 🙂 You are most welcome…I love the image and your discussion of it 🙂

  2. Haha!!!! That is absolutely awesome!!!! The funniest comment I have ever received. 😃
I was wondering whether I needed to put a warning on my blog for veggies! But on balance thought it didn’t need it on the basis that butchers shops don’t carry them! 😃. It really is THE best butchers!

  3. Not really that ironic….The Romans used to celebrate the feast of Lupercalia around 14 February where the men sacrificed a goat and a dog, then whipped women with the hides of the animals they had just slaughtered!! So quite apt when you think about it!

I think the bigger irony is the money people are suckered into spending on cards and meals etc nowadays just because our consumer society in the west dictates!

But it is great to hear you view and I appreciate you stopping by to leave a comment. Have a great rest of the weekend.

  4. “I think the bigger irony is the money people are suckered into spending on cards and meals etc nowadays just because our consumer society in the west dictates!” I hate Valentine’s Day just because of this! Why not let each other know you love them all year long? Why do we need one day a year to openly appreciate each other (and eat chocolate – or pigs). I don’t get it.

Although I think the beheaded pigs look a bit eerie, I do love the composition of the shop and your pic. Hope you had a lovely Valentine’s!

    1. I AGREE!!!!!! It was my 12th wedding anniversary today!!! So that was lovely. But I had to work ALL weekend so have been really cross and not really got out of my pjs. But did just get delivered a lovely gin and tonic with lots of lime in it by my husband. So that is very lovely. 🙂 It is good to be made to feel special (and make others feel special) EVERY day of the year. By little gestures. Not flashy gifts. I hope you had a good day too 🙂

      1. In that case: happy anniversary!! And yes, little gestures are so much more valuable than anything over the top. It’s knowing someone appreciates you that’s most important! Have a lovely rest of your anniversary!

    1. It does, doesn’t it! Such a great family butchers. We are so lucky to have it in the neighbourhood! Thanks for stopping by to leave a comment! 😀
